The sun is shining, the weather is sweet, makes me want to move, ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra. Yep, summer is round the corner, so you should get your things straight and learn about what’s the best line-up and festival experience this year. I made a selection for you (in a random order) with the places that tip me the wink, I hope you’ll enjoy it.
My list starts with a personal favourite, the Electric Elephant festival, in the stunning surroundings of The Garden Tisno, in Croatia. When? 10th – 14th of July 2014. Why? It’s easy, for the best reasons in the world – the Adriatic sea, the sandy beaches and the Balearic rhythms or shall I better say the Adriatic ones. The line-up this year is also very impressive with great names like Prosumer, Horse Meat Disco, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Soul Jazz Soundsystem and many many more. So, imagine how perfect it should be to linger under the beautiful sun, bathe in crystal waters, eat great food and dance on steamy rhythms. Here is a glimpse of a daytime setting.

LoveBox is a weekend-er festival set in the heart of East London, in the city’s most beautiful and oldest public park, Victoria. When? Friday 18th to Saturday 19th July 2014. Why? For the great scenery, the beautiful sun and for one great line-up of various styles together (Soul II Soul, Norman Jay, David Rodigan, Tensnake, Dimitri from Paris, Madlib, Hercules and Love Affair and many more), Lovebox makes a point of booking tickets for a marvellous experience.

Another cool festival from the Albion is Bestival, a 4 day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill, in the heart of the Isle of Wight. When? The 4th-7th of September. Why? For big names like Beck, Outkast, The 2 Bears, Caribou, Busta Rhymes and the list can go on. And also for a fashionable feature of this festival – the original accomodation experience which can include a Boutique Campsite (Tipi, Yurt, Squrt, Cloudhouse, PodPad, Bell Tent & more), a Wild Copse premium camping area, or a ready pitched tent with Tangerine Fields. It maybe pricy but it’s sexy when it rains.
Another favourite festival on my list in the past two years is Optimus Primavera, the Portuguese sibling of the famous Primavera Sound from Barcelona, Spain. I recommend going to Porto because it isn’t that intimidating in its grandeur, the setting is in a park which is nicer. When? the 5th-7th of June. Why? For dazzling names like Caetano Veloso, !!!, Kendrick Lamar, Mogwai, Shellac, The National, Todd Terje and, as you know by now, many many more. And make sure not to miss the famous pastel de nata, a delicious traditional Portuguese egg tart pastry or a visit to the Porto’s wine caves and the Douro Valley’s vineyards.
Burning Man is a really special festival that gathers tens of thousands of people at the ‘Playa’ in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create a temporary wooden city dedicated to community, art, self-expression and self-reliance. They depart a week later, leaving no trace whatsoever. When? until the 25th of August til the 1st of September. Why? There are no words to describe the liberty that this place offers you. In the most beautiful sense, creative and at ease. The grand finale shows a great fire of a wooden man that gives you an experience of your own. This documentary will help you visualize all said above and make note of this unique experience.
Party on!
